Elle Gould

Elle Gould is a dedicated student-athlete from Eskasoni First Nation in Unama’ki who has excelled both on the field and in the classroom. Growing up surrounded by sport, Elle developed a passion for both volleyball and softball at a young age. Volleyball has taken her to national competitions and the All Nations Showcase, where she has built lifelong memories and friendships through the game.

As a talented softball pitcher, Elle has competed in tournaments across Canada, from community “Rez ball” to high-level competitions including the North American Indigenous Games and the Canada Summer Games. She was selected to represent Team Nova Scotia and had the honour of serving as a flag bearer during the opening ceremonies of the 2025 Canada Summer Games—becoming the first Mi’kmaw athlete to carry the flag for the province.

Elle’s dedication and hard work have earned her significant recognition, including the Tom Longboat Award for Nova Scotia and being named Mi’kmaq Athlete of the Year in 2024. Alongside her athletic success, Elle is committed to her education and has been recognized for her achievements as a student-athlete, demonstrating strong academic performance while competing in sport.

Proud of her Mi’kmaw roots, Elle hopes her journey shows young people in her community that success is possible beyond their home communities through hard work, honour, and dedication. Her discipline, leadership, and pride in representing Eskasoni make her a powerful role model for Indigenous youth.
