Lauren Cullen
Lauren is an artist, facilitator and critical craft researcher working in the medium of rug hooking. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication and Culture and her art-based research project mapped the intersections of craft and power by exploring how rug hooking can be used as a resistance tool and an expression of queer joy. She has facilitated rug hooking projects with Xpace Cultural Centre, Myseum of Toronto, the Girls Art League, Workman Arts and Halifax Pride. Lauren loves cats, dogs, pizza, friendship, reality tv and swimming in every season
STEAM
This session introduces youth to the world of STEAM through real stories, innovation, creativity, and problem-solving. Panelists will share how curiosity and exploration led them into fields of technology, engineering, design, research, and creativity. Youth will learn about emerging industries, mentorship opportunities, and how both technical and artistic skills shape the future of work.
