Joy Akinkunmi

Joy Akinkunmi is a Grade 12 student attending Charles P. Allen High School with a deep interest in STEM, healthcare, and community-based innovation. She developed the Pill Smart, an automatic pill-dispensing device, with a caregiver app, designed to support seniors with dementia and their caregivers.
Joy serves as the Co-President of her school’s Students’ Council and the project manager of her school's Black Student Association. She co-founded Healthcare Horizons, a youth initiative that engages students in healthcare education and volunteer projects serving hospitals, shelters, and senior communities.
She also coaches youth basketball, mentors science fair students, and supports younger learners through tutoring. She is driven by the desire to turn real human needs into community driven interventions.
